Nippersink School District 2

GRADE LEVEL CENTER STUDY (GLCS)

INTRODUCTION

This study will examine the feasibility of Nippersink S.D. 2 moving from neighborhood schools to a grade level center concept.  The purpose of this study is to assist the District 2 Board of Education in long-range planning.

For study purposes, the definition of a grade level center is defined as having all District 2 children in the same grade attend the same school.

Nippersink S.D. 2 current school configuration is:

Spring Grove Elem. School           Richmond Grade School                Nippersink Middle School

                K-5                                                         K-5                                                         6-8

The study will be governed by a Steering Committee.  Sub-Committees have been established and tasked with responsibilities associated with the study.

Monitoring updates of committee work and reviewing the FAQ posted on the district’s website GLCS link will keep one abreast of committee progress.

The Board of Education will receive quarterly reports of the committee’s work.  A final summary report is expected to be presented to the Board in fall 2014.

Areas of study include facilities, student transportation, curriculum & instruction, human resources, finances and research.

The public may submit a question or comment to the committee through the provided link located on the district’s website.  Surveys of the staff and public will be conducted during the study period.
